假設你聽說有位YouTuber的頻道很有趣而且相當吸引人；不過，當你實際看到影片時，卻發現那是一張數位臉孔！
歡迎來到虛擬YouTube世界。
虛擬YouTuber或稱VTuber是數位虛擬化身，而非真實人物；而這個虛擬化身是透過動作捕捉技術拍攝並配合人聲所創造出來的。
最早的VTuber是大和亞美，她在2011年出道開始主持節目並一直持續至今。
芭比娃娃則是於2015年開始展開首次的虛擬表演。
不過要一直等到2016年絆愛出現後， VTubing才開始走紅。
絆愛非常受大眾歡迎，因此遷出現在日本政府的官方推廣活動中。
現在VTuber的數量已經不少，而且多數都在日本。
不過，VTubers浪潮也逐漸席捲西方國家。
這些虛擬人物之所以吸引人，是因為看起來像真人，只不過更可愛，也更有趣。
虛擬面孔是否將成為影像世界的標準?
打造一個虛擬化身十分昂貴；因此短時間内應該不太可能。
不過也許有一天，大多數的線上互動終將透過虛擬化身來進行。

YouTuber, or VTuber, is a digital avatar rather than a real person. The avatar is created by filming with motion-capture technology and pairing it with someone's voice.
The earliest VTuber, Ami Yamato, started hosting a show in 2011 and continues to do so. And the doll Barbie ade her virtual debut in 2015.
But it wasn't until 2016 when Kizuna Al was introduced that VTubing took off.
Kizuna Al became so popular that she was featured in promotions for the Japanese government. There are now many VTubers, mostly in Japan. But VTubers are taking the West by storm, too. They are appealing because they look like real people but are cuter and more fun.
Will virtual faces become the standard in the vlogging world? It's expensive to create an avatar. So probably not anytine soon. Still, perhaps someday most online interaction will take place through virtual avatars.

This is kind of what it looks like when you're producing motion capture for an animation of some kind, somebody has to strap things all over their body.
And then the animation, whatever the person is trying to draw or animate, has the same motions as that person.
The avatar is created by filming with this motion-capture technology and pairing it or putting it together with someone's voice.
