Languages can be challenging, especially when words sound or look the same or have similar meanings.

In English a verb form can be confused with a similar word at times. And that word is usually a different part of speech.

These words can be troublesome, but it is important to learn the differences. Look

at the following examples of some of these differences.

1. If your friend has a problem, you can advise him by giving him some advice.

2. She'll probably accept all of your suggestions except the bad ones.

3. Perhaps your words will affect her choice, resulting in a good effect on the situation.

4. This button is loose, and I'm afraid I might lose it.

5. My goldfish died last night. When I got up this morning, it was dead.

6. When we breathe, we take in a breath of air.

7. We are taking our books home to study tonight.
