孟菲斯&吉薩金字塔群Memphis and Pyramids of Giza

吉薩金字塔群不需要多做介紹；在古代世界七大奇蹟中，吉薩大金字塔是最古老且唯一仍存留下來的建築。

吉薩高原為人面獅身像、吉薩金字塔群以及代赫舒爾平原墓地金字塔群的所在地，於西元一九七九年獲得列名登錄於聯合國教科文組織世界遺產的名單。

附近的孟菲斯古城是全世界第一個帝國都城，約莫興建於西元前三一OO年。

孟菲斯古城也是埃及的第一個首都，座落於尼羅河與尼羅河三角洲交會處，整合上下埃及。

當年，孟菲斯是古埃及的商業暨宗教中心。

任何即使對古代歷史只有一點點興趣的人，在參觀目前已經成為露天博物館的孟菲斯時，都能發現許多令他們為之著迷的事物。

The Pyramids of Giza need no introduction. Of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and the only remaining ancient Wonder. Placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979, the Giza Plateau includes the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza as well as the pyramids on the plain of Dahshur. The nearby ancient capital of Memphis, the first of the world's imperial cities, was built around 3100 B.C. This first capital of Egypt is located where the Nile River and the Nile Delta meet, unifying Upper and Lower Egypt.

In its day, Memphis served as the commercial and religious center of ancient Egypt.

Anyone who is even slightly interested in ancient history can find plenty to enthrall them on a visit to Memphis, which is now an open-air museum. All who visit marvel at the giant statue of Ramesses II, and the alabaster sphinx that guards the entrance to Ptah's temple. An indoor museum houses the huge statue of Ramesses II, carved with fine detail. The statue, which used to stand outside the Ptah temple, now lies on its back in the museum.
