Turkey Day
A day to be thankful and to eat with family and friends
In the United States, the fourth Thursday in November is Thanksgiving Day – sometimes casually called Turkey Day. It's traditionally a day when people give thanks for all the blessings they have enjoyed over the past year. The main part of any Thanksgiving celebration is a large meal with family and friends. And more often than not the part of the meal that makes it a Thanksgiving dinner is a turkey.
However, the very first Thanksgiving dinner in 1621 probably didn't include turkey.
At that dinner, settlers from England ate with Native Americans who had helped them learn to survive in North America. The meal probably included venison, goose and duck. It wasn't until centuries later that people increasingly began to eat turkey at Thanksgiving. This was largely due to convenience – wild turkeys were common, and a typical turkey is large enough to feed a lot of people. Also, people in the northeastern part of the U.S. began to travel and took their customs - with them. These included eating turkey during harvest festivals.

Antalya, Turkey, is a city located on the beautiful blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
So blue!
Wow! That makes me want to hit the beach.
Let's do that first.
Konyaalti Beach is the best place to go.
You can swim or just relax on the sand.
Or if you feel like exploring, walk along the boulevard to check out some cool cafés.
Coffee and Turkey go hand in hand.
That means they're always together, and you can't have one without the other.
Turkish coffee dates back to the 16th century.
Today, it's a symbol of Turkey's warm hospitality.
Speaking of history, Turkey has a very long one.
Although it officially became a country in 1923, it's been the site of many famous empires such as the Ottoman Empire奥斯曼帝國 and the Roman Empire.
Antalya is one of the best places to learn about this history because you can see it right before your eyes.

Start by visiting Hadrian's Gate.
This strong, beautifully-decorated gate was made when the Roman Emperor Hadrian visited Antalya in the year 130.
Not 1930, not 1030. 130!
Once you pass through this ancient gate, you can explore the rest of Antalya old Town, or Kaleici.
You can still see the towers from the old city wall around you.
And if you get lost in the old, twisting alleyways, just look up.
You can navigate based on the Yivli Minare, an elegant and very tall tower that it's a symbol of Antalya.
I bet all this exploring is working up an appetite.
Good news: Turkey has amazing street food.
