空中賽車Airspeeders
《星際大戰》經典再現 It’s Star Wars all over again- in real life
Pearson's 4-meter-long multicopter, with electric vertical takeoff and landing (EVTOL), flies unmanned at this point. Although there is a cockpit, it is currently occupied by a robot that is controlled by a pilot on the ground.
Pearson describes the Airspeeder as a merger of a racecar with a racing drone to create something completely new. Weighing about 130 kilograms, these racecars can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
Battery-powered, the Airspeeder must have its battery replaced every 10 to 15 minutes of flight time. How fast a pit stop crew can swap out a battery during a race
may determine who has the advantage,
just like in a car race.
Two to 10 Airspeeders will race in close proximity to one another on terrain that includes everything from tropical coasts to deserts to frozen tundra. Protecting speeders from crashing into one another, a virtual force field will also keep them from taking shortcuts or straying off the track. Every minute of action wilIl be captured by cameras and streamed to audiences worldwide.
It is "motorsport in the sky."
merger 公司的合併
The merger of the tow companies meant that the value of the new company’s stocks rose quickly.

accelerate(adj.)加速;增進

Many people feel that global warming is accelerating at a faster rate than ever thought possible.
If you watch closely at the final 100-meter mark, you will see the best runners accelerate and win the race. 加速衝刺
mulicopter/ multirotor
unmanned
means that there’s no person involved.
cockpit駕駛艙
that’s the little tiny room where the pilots operate an airplane.
drone無人機,空拍機,無人駕駛飛機;無人駕駛艇
a cross between +(n.)+and +(n.)
This Airespeeder is a cross between a racecar and a racing drone.
You know, we could use that phrase "a cross between one thing and another thing" to describe a new object that we're not exactly sure how to describe, so we just say: Oh, it's a cross between these two other things.
A mule is a cross between a donkey and a horse.
Could we use the word "hybrid" in the situation?
They're a cross between one thing and something else. And I think that this is an example of a hybrid.
What do you get when you cross… with…?
I think of jokes because there are so many jokes that start with "What do you get... when you cross one thing with something else?" (Oh, you're right.)
I have heard jokes that had started like that before.
What do you get when you cross a trampoline with a cow?
A trampoline, of course, is that thing that you jump up and down on. (I know. No. I get it. I think I know the answer.)
Yeah?
Is it a milkshake?
wow

Sarah takes in all kinds of strays because she feels sorry for them. 心疼他們
off the track 偏離軌道
If you run off the track, you automatically lose the race.
off the track 離題

Fred apologized for wasting everyone’s time by going off the track at the meeting. 在會議中離題
pit crew
How fast a pit stop crew can swap out a battery during a race may determine who has the advantage, just like in a car race.
And speaking of any other car race, when I think of a pit stop crew, sometimes we just say it's the pit crew, I think of a picture like this.
That is a lot of people coming around to make sure that the tires are changed and everything is working properly for the next part of the race.
to swap out vs. replace vs. recharge
We can swap out a battery. We can replace out a battery. Or We could even recharge a battery if it’s a rechargeable battery.
(to have )the upper hand佔上風
They have an advantage in a competitive situation
That means he had a direct distinct advantage in that race.
Often we use the word "gain," the verb, with this phrase.
At the beginning of the footrace, Sam fell behind, and his opponent gained the upper hand.
George had the upper hand in his relationship with his wife, Sally, because he was a better chess player.
tundra n.【地】苔原;凍土地帶,凍原
if you are doing something in close proximity, that means the distance between the two is not very much.
Tundra usually referring to a vast, flat landscape where there’s not a lot of trees or anything like that.
to take a shortcut
I saw your Facebook ad for snowboarding lessons.
I have a couple of questions.
Do you only offer group lessons, or do you also offer private lessons?
We offer both.
Small group lessons are limited to five people at a time and cost 55 dollars for two hours.
Private lessons are 150 dollars for two hours.
I have two boys who are seven and nine years old.
What is the youngest age for group lessons?
We offer lessons for kids aged seven and above.
Both your boys can join.
Good to know.
Do you offer lessons throughout the week and at what times?
We offer group lessons from Mondays to Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
That would work for us.
I'll make a booking on your website.
Thanks.
You're welcome.
Have a nice day.
