經典西部片的影迷一想到這種電影類型時，腦海經常浮現的是獲獎無數的導演約翰·福特。
然而，近來有一個新名字在西部片這個電影類別中備受曜目 趙婷。
這位來自中國的女導演以及她所執導的電影強勢席捲了好萊塢；有些人甚至表示，趙婷已重新塑造了西部片。
起初是什麼開啟趙婷對美國西部的興趣呢？
趙婷曾在一次雜誌訪談中表示，自己對於美國的舊西部一直情有獨鍾；但是從沒真正想過拍攝相關電影，因為自己對於舊西部所知不多。
趙婷出生於中國北京，與她故事中經常提及的地區相距十萬八千里。
她的父親是一名成功的商人，她的繼母宋丹丹則是著名的喜劇演員。
趟婷十四歲時，搬到英國倫敦念書，之後又遷往美國加州洛杉磯完成高中學業，
然而就在某個時間點，她毅然決定投人這個說故事的行業；也正是在那個時候，她果斷決定搬到紐約就讀電影學院。
