CHENG-TSUNG PAN
Born to Golf
Cheng-Tsung Pan (X), like Tiger Woods, was practically born with a golf club in his hands. The youngest of six children, he grew up in Miaoli County. Pan's parents both worked at a local golf course where his mother was a caddie. When he turned 5, Pan's mother and father acquainted him with the game they both loved.
From his mother, Pan learned the fundamentals of golf. From his father, he learned the kind of discipline that is required to be successful at the game.
Pan's father would have the boy and his brother run three kilometers to the golf course. Then they could begin practice. Though Pan might have disliked the intense training, he says that it became the foundation for his career.
By the age of 11, Pan was already competing in international golf tournaments. At 15, Pan, called C.T. Pan, played for Taiwan at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar. There he won both the silver and bronze medals in separate events. The more he played, the more confident he became, and he determined to one day become a
professional golfer.
