And in the midst of her suffering, Nightbirde still managed to say, "I am so much more than the bad things that happen to me." On her blog she wrote honestly and movingly about her suffering. But she also proclaimed her faith in God.
In an interview, Nightbirde commented that she believed God could heal her instantly. The fact that He chose not to made her believe that there was a greater purpose in what she was enduring. And in a blog post, she added that God often draws near to those who are suffering.
Indeed, He gives them strength instead of taking the suffering away. Nightbirde's stage name comes from a series of dreams she had in which she saw birds singing in the dark. Her willingness to sing despite the darkness she experienced has inspired many people.
