The Philly cheesesteak is a classic American sandwich created in the 1930s. A hot dog vendor got creative, cooked some slices of beef and put them in a bun. smelled so good that a taxi driver bought one and spread the word about the new, delicious sandwich. Today the sandwiches are served with melted cheese, fried onions, mushrooms and more.
New Orleans, Louisiana
The po'boy was created in the 1920s. Two men opened a restaurant featuring sandwiches made on French bread. During a strike, they offered them free to the "poor boys" who were on strike. Today you can get basically anything you want on a po'boy.
Chicago, Illinois
Nothing quite compares to the deep-dish pizza of Chicago. It was first made in 1943 and can be over 7 centimeters thick. These pizzas contain thick layers of tomato sauce, cheese and more. People often eat these pizzas using forks and knives.
