Miniature Art
Brushed it off the table
Some distinctive features of miniature art are that the pieces should be portable and able to fit in one's hand. In terms of quality, a piece should be without flaws and able to hold its own against larger works of art. Though small, the pieces must be perfectly formed. Tiny miniature paintings must be accomplished with such fine strokes that when the piece is magnified, its amazing detail is enhanced. The same is true for miniature sculptures and all other forms of miniature art. Miniature art began to lose its appeal in the early 19th century when photography appeared. Over the last 30 years, though, miniatures have experienced a revival with new displays and works of art popping up everywhere. It is unlikely that miniature art will ever go away as long as people remain fascinated by tiny masterpieces.
