Another way to say that is the word "consecutive."

In the same way.

We actually could replace the word "straight" with the word "consecutive."

That means there was no break in between.

No year where it was actually decreasing, it was just growing every year for eight straight years, for eight consecutive years.

Or we could say "for eight years in a row."

Notice with that phrase "in a row," you put that phrase after the time.
