傑森：那是妳的看法。這是我的錢，要是中了樂透大獎我一生就不愁吃穿了。

艾瑪：但，只有在你保持理性生活方式以及做好財務管理才有可能喔。

傑森：我會的！

艾瑪：最好是。大多數人都會把那筆錢揮霍得一乾二淨，然後落得破產的下場。中樂透有可能會毀掉你的人生。

傑森：我知道。我讀過不少故事案例。但是這不會發生在我身上。

艾瑪：因為你不會中。

傑森：很難說喔。反正買彩券可以幫助社會大眾；那些錢可以用來資助學校和社福計畫。

艾瑪：那就直接捐錢啊。

傑森：可是買彩券的話，同時也是在幫助小型企業；他們能從彩券銷售額中獲得部分利潤。

艾瑪：那個好是好；可是如果你把每個月買彩券的十二塊美元用來投資，你的錢就會變多。就用百分之四的報酬率來算的話，二十五年內，就會有超過六千美元的錢！

傑森：但是我現在就想玩；買彩券只是一種娛樂啦。

艾瑪：好啦。你只要一直保持這樣的心態就好！而且記得喔，結果可能是你的存款縮水了！

傑森：That's your opinion. It's my money, and a big lottery prize would set me

up for life.

艾瑪：But only if you maintain a reasonable standard of living and manage your money well.

傑森：I would!

艾瑪：Yeah, right. Most people spend it all and end up bankrupt. Winning the lottery can ruin your life.

傑森：I know. I've read stories. But that wouldn't happen to me.

艾瑪：Because you won't win. You never know.

傑森：Anyway, buying lottery tickets helps the community. The money helps fund schools and social programs.

傑森：And when you buy lottery tickets, you're helping small businesses. They get a percentage of the ticket sales.

艾瑪：That's all well and good. But if you invest the $12 a month that you spend on

lottery tickets, your money will grow. If you get just a 4 percent return, in 25 years you'll have over US$6,000!

傑森：But I want to have fun now. Buying lottery tickets is just entertainment.

艾瑪：OK. Just be sure it stays that way! And remember, all you're likely to get is a smaller bank balance!
