與此同時，國內暨國際上對於異國風味肉品與傳統醫藥原料的需求更創造出對於雨林野生動物持續不斷的需求。
IBAMA在運油卡車遭受攻擊後的反制行動中得的部分成功，顯示出在全球最大的熱帶雨林中執行環境法規著實困難艱辛。
IBAMA的突襲行動原本意欲在現住非法伐木者，但因為有人先向鋸木公司通風報信，因此行動宣告失敗。
所幸BAMA仍查六千方公尺非法砍伐的木材，關閉三家伐木工廠，並對其他二十家工廠開出總計一百五十萬美元的罰金。
反觀在大部分案件裡，通常IBAMA執法官抵達時，犯案者早就都已逃逸無蹤了。
單憑一個政府機關來保護地球生態系統裡最為至關重要的一環是不夠的；必需仰賴當地與全國乃至於跨國合作才能執行法規、發經濟上能替代雨林開發的替代項目，繼而消除消費者對於非法林產品的需求。
然而,要找出能夠成功辦到的方法至今依然是一個挑戰。
