THE CHANGING FACE OF SHOPPING
How do you shop?
I think I'm in the minority because I love to shop in person. I like physically going into stores and looking at what they have to offer. It doesn't matter if it is household items, clothes or food, I want to see and touch before I buy. However, nowadays a large percentage of people buy everything through an online site or from a TV shopping channel.
E-commerce is actually nothing new. It dates back to the 70s when teleshopping came into being. Then in the 90s, when the internet took off, e-commerce sites such as Amazon began to sell books online. Soon after, it began selling almost anything anyone could want.
Safety, a good user experience and convenience have improved since then, making e-commerce even more appealing. Security systems to protect people's information and payments were instituted.
Sites became more user-friendly, and people found it very convenient to have goods delivered right to their door. This expanded further to include mobile commerce in 1997, and that trend isn't giving any indications of slowing down anytime soon.
