TIPS FOR WRITING A RÉSUMÉ

Some dos and don’ts

Maybe you've graduated from college and need to find a job. Or maybe you're looking for a job that will provide more satisfaction than your present one. People in both of these situations must do one thing: write a résumé. How do you do that? First, make it short, simple and to the point. Most employers take about 30 seconds to look through a résumé. You need to make it clear you are qualified quickly.

At the top of the page, put your name, phone number and a professional email address. This means no nicknames in your address. Also write down the link to your LinkedIn page. Follow with a couple of statements that talk about your skills and experience.

Then state your latest job, giving not only work experience but also accomplishments using bullet points. Be honest about your skills and exact about

what you did. Use persuasive verbs like developed and handled. Next list the job before that and so on.

Stay positive by not including reasons for changing jobs. No need for references.
