IKEA出招 全面轉型IKEA'S MOVE TOWARD A CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODEL

減少廢料、保護環境、循環經濟Helping the environment by reducing waste

IKEA為了延長產品的壽命，正設法讓產品變得更易於維護。

同時，還要讓產品更容易拆解及運送，以便降低家具在移動或轉手過程中破損的機率。

有時候，民眾更換家具的原因不是家具有問題，而是需求改變了。

因此，IKEA亦設法使家具變得更具調整性以便延長使用年限。

有些產品尺寸可以伸縮變化以因應家庭成員及賓客人數的增減。

有些產品則備有外罩，可以變換外觀。

然而，即便全數採取這些措施，有些產品最終仍不免無法再繼續使用。

這時候，這些產品可以獲得重製—重新組裝成新產品—或是直接回收。

而，IKEA持續積極設計產品，期盼能有助簡化這些過程。

另外，IKEA也致力於減少其他方面的廢料，例如包裝及店內餐廳產生的廚餘等。

這些為了減少IKEA產品遭棄置和扔進掩埋場的數量所做出的努力，將有助於創造一個更加環保的循環經濟。

To prolong the life of its products, IKEA is trying to make their maintenance easier. It is also making its products easier to take apart and transport, so the furniture is less likely to break when being moved or changing hands.

 Sometimes people replace their furniture not because there is something wrong with it, but because their needs have changed. So IKEA is also trying to help people keep furniture for a longer time by making it easy to modify. Some pieces can be expanded or reduced in size as family members and guests come and go. Others have covers that can be swapped for a different look.

 But even with all these efforts, it is likely that certain products will eventually no longer be usable. At that point they can be remanufactured — the pieces reassembled into something new - or recycled. And IKEA is designing products to make these processes easier. The company is also working to reduce waste in other areas, such as packaging and food waste from restaurants inside its stores.

 These efforts to reduce the number of IKEA products that are discarded and

thrown into landfills will help create a more environmentally friendly economy.

repurpose

it means that it originally had one use, but now you're taking it and using it for something else.

After your toothbrush gets too old, and you don't wanna (want to) use it to brush your teeth, you could keep it to maybe use it to clean certain surfaces in your home.

repurpose CD or DVD

I think it takes a lot more creativity to remanufacture something because it's not just

using something for a different purpose. It's actually maybe taking it apart and reassembling it into something new.
