SAVE YOUR LIFE
Don't be one of the 5.5 millionpeople who will die from a stroke this year
It is true that older people are more at risk for stroke. However, Brooke's example shows that anyone can have a stroke. A stroke occurs when the blood supply to the brain is disrupted by a blood clot or a blood leak in the brain. The result is oxygen starvation, brain damage and loss of function.
One symptom may be weakness on one side of the body. Sudden vision loss, dizziness, sudden severe headaches, trouble speaking and problems moving
may also be signs. Fainting or vomiting may also be experienced.
Are you at risk for having a stroke? Look at your life. Are you experiencing atrial
fibrillation, high blood pressure or sleep apnea? Smoking, lack of physical activity, poor diet, alcohol abuse and being overweight are also factors.
Getting regular checkups, improving your diet, losing weight and exercising more could save your life. In his 30s, Bill felt stressed and unwell one day, so he checked his blood pressure. It was over 200! He was immediately prescribed medication. Bill lost 35 kilograms, started walking every day and learned to relax.
